Advice on Tuft Small Letters
Aktie
1, Any small details less than 1” x 1” is a no go for tufting in my opinion and my rule on lettering is to make 2 clean passes on one letter to make those letters stand out. If I can’t do that I’ll scale up or punch needle if need be.
2, I did this with the tufting gun. This is my first rug ever, but so far i’ve learned to go very slowly for small designs, keep pressure on the cloth, and think about which direction to point the gun for each puncture. I got a little impatient with that yellow section so it’s not perfect, but i’m happy with it. Your design seems like it might be even smaller than this, and mine was very tuf(t) to do. I’d go with that manual method others have recommended. I don’t have the experience, but it seems like the way to go for precision.
3, the smaller letters seem to be around the size of letters you are doing. when it comes to letters i normally tuft the surrounding color first and then tuft the letters. with really small letters i recommend turning the speed of your gun up, but only tap the trigger so that it only tufts one stitch at a time. that will make it so it is tufted dense, yet you still retain some control on your gun.
