Is polyester or cotton better for tufting cloth?

Polyester material is strong and tight, and cotton is soft, breathable and natural. There are two kind of tufting fabrics which represent the polyester and cotton material at present.

1,Yellow Primary tufting cloth with marked lines, this fabric is made from polyester and cotton blend, suitable for both tufting and punchneedle. And the marked lines makes it friendly for beginners.

2,Gray tufting cloth, this cloth is made from 100% polyester, suitable for tufting, expecially for large rugs because it's tight on frame.

Some turters say it's depend on what you’re making, and suggest using cotton for tufting pieces that hang on the wall, and polyester for rugs. But best thing to do is test it out for yourself. Even a few tufters don't use the 2 cloth at all, just like to tuft on burlaps.
