Is rug tufting a kind of arts?

I think it’s like any other medium where it depends what your making. Many people make and sell tufted items as wall art.

Fiber art has been a recognized medium of both fine art and craft for centuries. Fiber arts usually get lumped into folk art which has the distinction of being used for practical purposes, if you buy into that sort of artsy fartsy academic side of things. But, fiber arts is also a fine arts medium but it’s just not as popular as like paint or whatever.

There are all sorts of things made from tufting, such as tufting clothing accessories,tufted bags, tufted masks, tufted mirrors, tufted shoes，Pillows, sculptures, wallhangings, mixed media art，T shirt,coasters, mini doll rugs,and you can do all sorts of stuff! One of tufters called Charlie Serotoff, who have exhibited his tufting arts in New York city!
