100% Wool Yarn For Living Room Rug?

Boosetronus: I'm gonna tufting a rug for my living room, about 140x190cm and i was wondering if the 100% wool price justifies the extra durability of the rug for this high traffic area. Also, I'm thinking i will need something like 3-4kg of yarn, would that be a good estimate?
Nelsonius: For a 140x190 cm rug, you’ll need approximately 3990 grams of yarn, based on the estimate of 1500 grams per m². It’s likely to be slightly less rather than more, depending on your tufting technique.
Wool is the best material for a heavy foot traffic rug. Acrylic will fall apart quite fast. The wool rug will last decades.
Bella: Wool yarn is defo the best. I can’t say how much but always order more than u think.
Hycarumba: For the record, acrylic is stronger and more durable than wool. This is easy to verify. There are many other factors to decide to use wool, but durability is less with wool than either acrylic or polyester.
In my opinion, wool represents quality and has a good feel, but some people say acrylic is better, so what do you think?
