What’s The Secrets Behind Carving Tufted Rugs?
Share
1, Taking your time and go slow honestly. This hobby is about trimming mostly. Thats where you should invest the most time. Just oil your clippers after every use.
2, Seperating your lines when tufting, don't run your colors together. Shave your rug neatly. When you're ready to carve, run something along your lines to make sure that the colors are combed back away from each other. Your clipper angle is important and make sure that you're not pointing the tips down, keep them at the horizontal with your rug so that you don't cut through your backing. Practice makes everything better.
3, Need to glue then shave it down to where the fibers no longer split. Then trim the lines and seperate the colors. Lots of videos about it. This is a learned craft, takes some longer than others, but practice, practice and practice.
4, Carving will look better if you don't tuft your colors too close.
