How to fix a tufted hole better?

You can take some loose thread from the edges of the tufting cloth(probably a different piece since this one is already cut out and doesn't have much to pull from) and sew it from the back a bit to keep it together and more rigid. I had a small hole happen on my last piece similar to this. I took some and sewed around the hole in a star pattern(do a few of these with the star pattern on different areas so it pulls evenly from all sides.) and then tufted over it a little more. Worked pretty well for me, Not noticeable on the front side.(besides a couple loose tufting cloth threads that were easily trimmed) Gotta be careful carving the area though.

Not sure how you put the patch on, but I found if you tuft the patch a touch larger than you need and push it through the back to the front. Then you hot glue it to the back to secure. That way, your cloth wont show with all you threads.
