How to Maintain Hand Carving Scissors for Tufting ?
1, A quick wipe with an alcohol wipe to get rid of any sticky residue and a drop of oil on the blades + the screw where the two blades are held together make them brand new. Just work the oil in slightly by snipping the scissors open and closed a few times. I also just run my fingers along the blades with a drop of oil to get rid of any excess.
2, Clean with a brush inside and out after every trim. To aviod getting 'jammed'.
3, Oil after every trim with the PROPER oil - the general use oil everyone uses will turn to lacquer over time. You need sewing machine oil.
4, Change razor when dull. Recommend 3 in 1 oil.
