How to Fix A Big Hole When Tufting?

A problem happened when tufting, a hole appeared on the beautiful rug. But don't worry, it can be fixed!

Solution idea:

1: It can be saved and work out just fine. Just sew it up with thread. Making stitches wider than the tear. Pull out the yarn where it’s torn then stitch the fabric up using a rounded needle and thread ( stitch the same pattern on the cloth horizontal and vertical). If some adhesive like the gorilla spray and then the normal adhesive backing as normal.

2: There is a few ways of doing it. I think the best way of doing it is leave it alone when you get to the end and you put your backing on you’re gonna take the yarn wrap it up on your fingers the same way it wraps up into the canvas itself, put a tiny bit of hot glue in that area and stuff it with the yarn and then you can cut it and that’s how you patch it. The other way is to grab a piece of fabric and you’re gonna use the same colors and you gotta tie it down all the way aroundand then you can do it right in the center.

3: From some of the patches I see, I seen make a patch on the side , when finish . Cut it out with extra cloth, place it in the hole glue the extra cloth to the back of the rug , cut the excess off you don’t need and once carve it’ll blend in .

4: I’d say finish it and maybe try stitching it together by hand at end might be savable.

5: Patch it with another piece of cloth on the back and tuft them together that saved mines. That happened to me when I used cloth that wasn't tufting but was similar and bought it to save money. Learned my lesson.

6: Make a new rug! Sad to say there's no fixing that. Especially if you see how weak the fabric is in surrounding areas. Sorry this happened. More even pressure with the tufting gun and super tight fabric will help next time.

7,Continue finish, tufting your design then on the side of it draw the same shape for that area so when you finish, you can glue that piece on it like a puzzle piece, I’ve done it before if you nail it shape for shape align with it with the lines, nobody will notice. Ive done it in the past.

8,Don’t stitch it the stitch will pull out the other threads and create more and more issues. Use gorilla hot glue to glue on a patch of the same canvas material just make sure you glue only in spots you’ve already tufted or spots you’re not going to tuft since it’s not possible to tuft back through the glue. I also recommend starting by gluing one side and letting it cure, then apply glue to the other side and pull to stretch then adhere.
